If greyhound dogs intrigue you, this wonderful non-profit organization is a great place to learn more about these faithful companions. GEM is consistent in posting to their Facebook page, which is where you will find the Meet and Greets Chi Chi and Daniel Reeves participated in.
GEM is Greythounds of Eastern Michigan, an adoption group focused on the placement of retired racing greyhounds.
GEM, or Greythounds of Eastern Michigan, is a pro-racing greyhound adoption group that serves eastern Michigan from the Ohio border all the way to Bay City in the north and Lansing in the west.
GEM’s mission is fourfold:
1. To educate the public and raise awareness about the availability and suitability of retired racing greyhounds as pets
2. To find loving and qualified homes for the greyhounds entrusted to our care
3. Provide ongoing support to those who adopted greyhounds from GEM or any other group
4. Promote harmony and cooperation between ALL segments of the worldwide greyhound community.

Contact GEM at P.O. Box 194, Wayne, MI  48184, by calling (877) 426-3647, on Facebook at Greythounds of Eastern Michigan (GEM) or online at www.gemgreyhounds.org.

Meet My Pet!

Best friends, Chi Chi and Daniel Reeves warming up by the fireplace at Hearthstone of Brooklyn.

Chi Chi and Daniel Reeves have been best friends for three years. Chi Chi came into Dan’s life as a retired racing greyhound from a track in Daytona Beach, Florida. While Chi Chi originally entered the Reeves household as a foster, she and Dan quickly bonded and, as they say, the rest is history. When Dan isn’t busy with pet, farm, and house sitting, he takes Chi Chi to GEM Meet and Greet events throughout lower Michigan. This is where folks may interact with Chi Chi as Dan tells them about this intelligent, loving breed, hoping to gain more interest in greyhounds for fostering and adoption purposes.
