Jackson County Health Department officials recently released the following health advisory affecting Wamplers Lake residents:
“Due to a Municipal Wastewater Transmission line break, untreated sewage entered Wamplers Lake in the area of 1500 Wamplers Lake Road on July 22nd. It is advised that users of Wamplers Lake along the Northeastern shoreline from the Wamplers Lake Rd/Wamplers Heights Road intersection to the Lake Shore Drive/Wellwood Road intersection minimize all body and skin contact until further notice.
“This Public Health Advisory is in effect until water sample results indicate there is no longer any increased risk of bacterial infection from this event. The sewer line break was contained and repaired quickly. Surface water samples have been taken to determine when the Advisory can be lifted. Fishing is not affected at this time. Wading is not advised in the affected area. For further information, call 517-788-4433.”
