Global tribute to our healthcare workers sounding on lake

For Lake Columbia residents who may have heard the haunting melody of Amazing Grace as sounded from a bagpipe drifting over the waves of your beloved lake, your imagination is not running wild.
Piper Gary Blohm moved to Lake Columbia just a few years ago, but it is now home.
Gary has been playing bagpipes for over 15 years. He started listening to a Celtic CD that Lori, his wife, got him as a gift, and he decided he wanted to learn to play.
Now he is sharing his art with others.
“Every Thursday evening at 8 p.m. all the Scottish bagpipers across the globe are asked to join in playing Scotland the Brave as a tribute honoring all the sacrifices our healthcare workers are making for us,” Gary says. “So every Thursday evening I’ll be out front of my home near Bedford Park playing this song until the pandemic is over.”
In addition to playing Scotland the Brave at exactly 8p.m., Gary also entertains listeners with other songs like Amazing Grace.
It’s his way of reaching out and giving back to those who give so much to us.
So if you are a Lake Columbia resident, pause a moment this Thursday evening at 8 p.m., listen, and take a moment appreciate those who are so willing to sacrifice for all of us.
