On August 26, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m. the Columbia Township Police Department were called to the Dollar Tree on Brooklyn Road for a report regarding counterfeit cash.

The incident at the Dollar Tree took place at 6:30 p.m.  The suspect entered the store and requested funds to be placed on a cash card and produced a large sum of cash for payment.  The cash presented was in hundred-dollar bills.  The transaction was completed, and the suspect left the store.  Upon further examination of the cash, it was determined that each of the one-hundred-dollar bills were counterfeit.

On August 27, 2020, it was discovered that the suspect had also completed a similar transaction at the Dollar General in Brooklyn as well, just minutes before the Dollar Tree incident.  The Dollar General incident occurred on at approximately 6:15 p.m. around 15 minutes previously.  These two incidents are both similar in nature and video surveillance from both stores shows the same suspect passing the counterfeit bills at each store.

Columbia Township Police is seeking the assistance of the public with identifying the suspect pictured from the video surveillance. The individual is a black male approximately 5’09” weighing approximately 250 pounds. Anyone with information as to the identity of the person is asked to contact the Columbia Township Police Department at 517-592-3122.
